A few days ago I wrote I bought LanguageTool. This is just a quick update to let you know I canceled the subscription and asked for a refund.
I’ve tested LanguageTool for a few days and I don’t recommend it after all. It didn’t point out most of the mistakes in my writing, even the obvious ones. As an example, in one of my latests post LanguageTool saw no more mistakes but both Grammarly and ProWritingAid found over 30 issues each. And some of those mistakes were missing articles or prepositions, and once by wrote “though” instead of “thought” — I would have expected LanguageTool to find those errors but it didn’t.
Anyway, at least the LanguageTool team has been professional about the refund. I logged into my account, opened the “Help” section and created a support ticked to ask for a refund. They refunded me within a day.
You have 14 days since the purchase to ask for a refund. So if you bought it after reading my post a few days ago you still have over a week left to decide. I am not saying you should cancel your subscription. I am just clarifying that I don’t endorse LanguageTool.
